Galeria Metrópole, São Paulo, March 2024.
Curatorial consultancy

The exhibition featured 70 individual benches, by designers from different regions of Brazil, with different materials, shapes and construction techniques. They were selected from pieces launched in the last 15 years. This type of furniture is deeply rooted in Brazilian culture. The stools do not make explicit or reinforce the hierarchy of society. Rather, they establish a relationship of equals between their users. They have no front or back and can generally be easily moved, serving other functions with versatility, such as footrest, side table or support to help reach high shelves. After curating exhibitions on the subject in Paris, Amsterdam and Milan, among other cities, Adélia Borges was delighted to receive the invitation to participate in this project, created by young designers and architects who are bringing new vigor to Galeria Metrópole, in downtown São Paulo, acting as a consultant. Each bench received a 3D printed miniature; three drawings, one by Neco Stiekel and two by Rafaela Ramos, composing several graphic or audiovisual pieces with animation; and also a poster with all the participants.
