There is a movement around the world about raw materials with which products are made. Brazil has especial conditions in this area, and on both fronts covered by the issue – natural and artificial. The first hall of the exhibition showed use of raw materials from the rich Brazilian biodiversity, including plants from Amazon, hides of fish, palm tree fibers, a variety of seeds, fiber from banana trees and rubber mats produced in micro- plants for latex processing in the forests and operated by rubber tree tappers themselves, using simple and low cost techniques. The second hall presented creations made from waste, a practice widespread in Brazilian society even before the word ecology became well known. Among the examples shown were objects created with aluminum trimmings, tires, cardboard boxes and plastic bottles. Exhibition design by Pedro Mendes da Rocha.
