This edition of the award confirmed the scope of the truly national initiative. Major companies participated such as Coza, Lumini, Electrolux, Airfree, Itautec, Philco, Arno, Tigre, Mercur, Deca, Tramontina, Starret, Intermed and Polionda, substantiating that design is the result of an integrated effort between those who project and produce. The jury considered 462 entries, awarded 19 other products and selected 59 to participate in the exhibition. Among the winners, Ivan Rezende from Rio de Janeiro won first place in the category furniture with line Bandeirola and in the lighting category first place went to the line Luna by Fernando Prado. A Brazilian contribution to a global issue – the need of small vehicles for urban transport – is the Urban Car 828 / 2, that was given first place in new ideas/ concepts.
