Pavilion of Brazilian Cultures, São Paulo, January to July 2013
Curator
The exhibition presents the design collection of the Pavilion of Brazilian Cultures, consisting of artifacts made by ordinary people to meet the needs of everyday life using resources that are within their reach. Draws attention the perfect functionality of the objects, obtained in solutions that reveal great intelligence. But in the popular Brazilian design form not only follows function, it transcends it. They show a great creative freedom and a rich vocabulary of shapes and colors. Another common issue is sustainability, which can be seen in the practice of recycling and in the wise use of local resources and techniques. The pieces are unequivocal expressions of creative talent, clearly showing inventiveness has historically been a strategy for survival inherent in Brazilian culture.
