São Paulo, since 2016
The MASP Store – São Paulo Museum of Art Assis Chateaubriand has a unique profile among Brazilian museums, showcasing objects from every state in the country, created by communities of artisans, Indigenous peoples, quilombolas, and erudite designers, displayed side by side in a non-hierarchical gaze. The selection is curated by Adélia Borges since 2016, aligning with the institution’s original conceptual positioning, defined by Lina Bo and Pietro Maria Bardi, revived by the museum’s current artistic director. The selection is coherent with MASP’s mission to be a plural, diverse, and inclusive institution. MASP Store is recognized as one of the most vibrant hubs for contemporary Brazilian design, contributing to the generation of income for creators, who can thus remain in their territories. A highlight are the objects that keep the forest standing. The store is spread across three locations: two in the historic building designed by Lina Bo Bardi, and one in the Pietro building, which opened in March 2025.
