II Bienal Brasileira de Design, Museu Nacional, Brasilia, October-November 2008
Curator
The designers Jose Carlos Bornancini (1923-2008) and Nelson Ivan Petzold (1931) stood out on the Brazilian scenario in the second half of the 20th Century for a work whose keyword is innovation. Their projects brought 304 patents for the country. This ability to create the new is based on a thorough knowledge of the technical possibilities generated by production processes and materials with which they worked in long-term partnerships with dozens of companies. It also reveals the ability to observe the behavior of the surrounding people, and therefore early detection of their needs and desires. The exhibition, held in the Brazilian Design Biennial, presented the main products developed by the duo, such as cutlery for children that sold more than 2.5 million units; a camping flatware, thermos bottles, scissors and elevators. Exhibition design by Pedro Mendes da Rocha.
