Hugo França

Museu da Casa Brasileira , São Paulo, August- November 2004

Coordination

Woods of fallen trees in the forest from old abandoned canoes acquire a second life in the carved works of Hugo França. The shape of the object came out of each piece of wood that is generally huge logs of the Atlantic Forest region of Trancoso, Bahia. Thus, tables, chairs, lounge chairs are unique pieces, never repeatable, or “sculptures-furniture”. Held in the garden of the Museum, the show had 15 pieces that illustrate the various types worked out by France – stools, chairs, chaise lounge, hot tub, tables of various sizes, and sculptures.
